As the founder of EnergyVolt, Brett combines:
✔ Hands-on manufacturing experience with
✔ Cutting-edge solar technology development to deliver
✔ Reliable, high-performance energy solutions
His unique dual perspective – spanning a quarter century in solar and 15 years focused on inverter manufacturing – positions him as one of Australia’s most knowledgeable renewable energy specialists.
Solar Energy Expert:
Engineering, Design & Installation
Brett is a qualified Solar Engineer with full accreditation as a Solar System Designer and Installer. His technical expertise spans:
-
System Engineering – Advanced design of residential, commercial and utility-scale solar solutions
-
Professional Installation – Certified hands-on implementation of photovoltaic systems
-
Regulatory Compliance – Ensuring all designs meet current industry standards and safety requirements
With dual qualifications in both engineering theory and practical installation, Brett offers the unique ability to oversee solar projects from initial concept through to flawless execution.

Large-Scale Solar & Battery Projects
Brett has played a key role in numerous high-profile solar and battery installations across Australia. His most recent major engagement was as Project Engineering Manager for Telstra’s “Exchange of the Future” program—a groundbreaking initiative to modernize the energy infrastructure of Telstra’s nationwide telephone exchanges.
Over three years, Brett led the evaluation and integration of cutting-edge renewable energy technologies, collaborating with industry leaders like Tesla to develop hybrid on/off-grid solar + battery solutions. This project was instrumental in advancing reliable, sustainable power systems for critical telecommunications infrastructure.

Pioneering the Future of Energy Storage
Brett was the original innovator behind the Enphase IQ5 Battery, designing the first functional prototype that successfully integrated multiple microinverters with a single battery system. This industry-first breakthrough enabled seamless operation in both off-grid and grid-tied applications, setting a new standard for modular energy storage.
Originally developed as the Encharge Battery (or “Q Battery”), Brett’s foundational work became the cornerstone of Enphase’s commercial energy storage solutions. His years of close collaboration with Enphase’s engineering team were instrumental in transforming this visionary concept into a market-leading product.
Key Contributions:
✔ Created the pioneering prototype for multi-inverter battery architecture
✔ Enabled dual-mode functionality (grid-connected & off-grid) in a single system
✔ Worked directly with Enphase engineers to refine and commercialize the technology

A Legacy of Innovation in Energy Technology
With a career spanning decades, Brett has played a pivotal role in the development of 16+ commercially successful products, including:
-
DC to AC Pure Sine Wave Inverters
-
DC to DC Dual Battery Chargers
-
Solar Regulators & Grid-Tie Inverters
-
Advanced Battery Management Systems (BMS)
These innovations have been mass-produced and sold globally by Rich Electric Ltd, with additional distribution through Jaycar Electronics and wholesale networks across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.
A Vision Ahead of Its Time
Brett was part of one of the first teams to develop a groundbreaking True Interactive Pure Sine Wave Inverter—modular, stackable up to 90kW, and compatible with single, two, and three-phase systems. This revolutionary technology allowed homes and businesses to:
✔ Operate on- or off-grid with solar and renewable energy
✔ Store energy in batteries for nighttime use
✔ Buy/sell excess power back to the grid
✔ Power mobile applications (motorhomes, caravans, boats)
The Rich Electric Super Combi, developed in the late 1990s and launched globally in the early 2000s, was a trailblazer in integrated energy storage—unfortunately, the market took 20+ years to fully recognize the value of grid-connected battery systems that Brett helped pioneer.
Why This Matters
Brett’s work laid the foundation for today’s smart energy storage solutions, proving his foresight in sustainable power management. While the industry has only recently embraced these concepts, his innovations remain a testament to engineering excellence and forward-thinking design.
